From skate shoes to stem cells

Bret - a self-described faithful reader- gave us the link for Osiris Therapeutics, who deal in adult stem cell research. Of course, the first thing I think about is that the new X-Files movie deals directly with radical forms of stem cell therapy.

Someone needs to write a screenplay in which stem cell therapy is actually a big conspiracy to graft alien DNA onto the human genome. Terminally-ill patients are then turned into superhuman alien hybrids and take over the world.

Chris, I'm a little biased when it comes to stem cells...

My friend's son (18yr old) was paralyzed in a car accident.

Doctors here said they couldn't help him other than physio and they were 99.99% that the paralysis would be for life.

My friend took his son out of country for stem cell therapy and about 4 weeks later his son had 75% mobility back in his legs.

That's awesome, Strangey. I have no problem with SCT- I just think that would make a cool movie.

That would be a pretty cool movie...

Where do skate shoes come into play here? You mean like those shoes with the wheel in the heel that little kids slide around shopping malls in like they're in Xanadu? Just wondering.

Now I've got the Xanadu song stuck in my head... Double drat.

This is interesting given what happen a few weeks ago when President Obama decided to allow government funding to scientists working on embryonic stem cells.

That's a great story, Strangie! I hope that he fully recovers.

Funny you should mention writing a screenplay about a conspiracy to graft alien DNA into the human genome. This conspiracy, in my research, may soon be a reality. I am not sure if you are aware of a research partnership of National Geographic and IBM. I am sure you know the role that IBM played in WWII in developing a custom punch card method of tracking ethnicity. Are they searching for certain individuals DNA that would be most desirable, or compatible, to cross with alien DNA? Or possibly a plan to identify certain individuals/"hybrids" for the identification from the human race. Anyway, here is a link.

A faithful reader,

Made me think about this when the movie Escape to witch Mountain came out.
