Gilly to star in next Doctor Who series

Thanks to Anony for the tip:

Gillian Anderson, known to many as Agent Scully from The X-Files, is heading to a brand new science-fiction franchise, as she prepares to appear in Doctor Who. Anderson, according to a report from London's Daily Telegraph, will appear as The Rani, acting opposite Matt Smith's Doctor.

An insider for the show said of Anderson "Gillian obviously has a massive sci-fi following and it's felt that it would be a major coup to have her appear in Doctor Who." They continued saying, "The team behind the show are keen for the next Doctor to have lots of new enemies and Gillian would be a glamorous and impressive addition to the list. The Rani would be a perfect role for her as the character used to be regarded as one of the Doctor's most deadly opponents."

Man, this is timely- me and the missus just picked up a boxset of the first Who series after seeing the '63 pilot at DragonCon. We both were fans in the 70s but I'd only seen bits of the post-Baker era Who. We just hit a con last Sunday and I was amazed by how many vendors were hawking Who DVDs. I guess the recent series have really revived the franchise.

Ok, cool.

Thanks for this, Chris. I am a great fan of Gillian. I wish that she would do more work, she is very talented. When you look at these Hollywood starlets with their poor acting, don't you just wish for the return of the Great Scully. I can't wait to rip these episodes.

Thanks.

She looks awesome in that clip, no? DNA Scully has good genes...

Yeah, Gillian is very delightful, I've admired her greatly since I was a teenager. Very beautiful & charming.

Now add her to the roster of a DR WHO season, & I am further impressed. I religiously watched all the reruns on PBS for years & was addicted to DR Who marathons when the 60's, 70's & 80's original series came out on DVD.
