William pointed us to this story over at the Sun:

Mexico: State of Chihuahua Terrorized by "Man-Bat"
A Report By Prof. Ana Luisa Cid
According to information supplied by Ing. Francisco Prieto Torres, residents of La Junta, Guerrero (Chihuahua) have reported the appearance of a "Man-Bat".
They describe it as a very tall entity, standing some 2 meters tall, with two pairs of wings (one pair larger than the other). Its face is covered in fur and has red, bloodshot eyes. Also reported are a pair of small, kangaroo type hands that it held loosely, as though it lacked any strength in them.
And what's this?

One of these days I will write that "Mothman and Me" post. Let me also add that Chris Carter wrote a "manbat" episode of The X-Files...

Speaking of Mothman...
About a year ago, my wife and I drove through West Virginia en route to see family in Ohio and Michigan. The closest we got to Point Pleasant was about 45 miles, but I did note a sign on I-77 listing the towns Ripley and Ravenswood. Apparently, they are the two major towns in Jackson County.
This was before I really started thinking about snychromysticism, but I did find the juxtaposition of the two family names associated with the Alien and Raiders films rather interesting. (I know it's actually "Ravenwood," but close enough.) Not sure if the towns are sufficiently near Point Pleasant to mean anything significant, but it does make one wonder...

Interesting. And of course both Ripley and Ravenwood link us to AAT, don't they?
Yep. Precisely what I was thinking.
It is also possible that I saw two signs in close proximity on I-77, and made some connection there. I might have been thinking of the ones at exit 138, the other at exit 146.
Here's a bit of background from a website with signs from West Virginia:
The US 33 West sign is added to the bottom of the guide sign as US 33 was recently rerouted onto a new alignment that multiplexed the US highway with I-77 from miles 138 to 146.
The US 33 re-route wasn't in the 2003 atlas we were using, so that made things a bit aggravating.

The Moth-Man sightings have been associated with curious disasters. THe Silver Bridge disaster over the Ohio River was linked to Moth-Man sightings.
There were (supposedly) Moth-Man type sightings before the bridge collapse in Minnesota a few years back.
And now - Mexico is in the throws of a swine-flu panic, and Moth-Man makes an appearance.
