The New Testament does tell us that Jesus was unmarried and did hang with sorcerers, lepers, outcasts, and prostitutes.
Like I've said before I'm an Al-Khem-ist so "my truth" (what I know and believe about the matter) would probably just piss off the religious right anyway. (and probably the left too!)

Well, I always was baffled by the religious right- I would watch them in the 80s and think "did these people actually read the New Testament, or just the out of context bits from pseudo-Paul that get put in tracts?" It turns out that most of them have not read it, judging by all of the recent polls on biblical literacy.
As I've lamented on the Secret Sun in the past, there was a viable Christian counterculture in the early 70s that popped up from time to time, only to be beaten down by the loudmouths in the megachurches and TV ministries. Terrible shame.
I've wondered about the reading of the book by some Right'ers myself.
From what I've uncovered in my readings, it really is no wonder the Roman Catholic Church, up until just a few hundred years ago, had a Death Penalty for possessing a written copy of the Bible if you were not a Bishop or Cardinal.
And let me clarify I'm not anti-religious in any way - anti-dogmatic maybe - as I feel that everyone has the right to believe whatever whatever stories they want to believe in-so-far as it does not hamper or prevent anyone else from the same privelege.
Of course I wish the "truths" would be made more widely known, but if the surface of the philosophies and stories in religions help to make peoples' lives better for them, then I say "good for them".

I think Robin Gibson should have high-tailed it away from Mel when he said that she was a nice person, but that she was going to Hell because she didn't believe as he did. At least she's gotten away from Mel-Hell.
But remember, kiddies... Christians aren't perfect; they're just forgiven. That means you can blame Jews for everything in a drunken rage, bang a Russian babe who's young enough to be your daughter, and lovingly film your Saviour getting beaten up in graphic detail. Just accept Jesus into your heart, ask for forgiveness (a lot), and all will be well.
