Holy crap- how did I miss this?:
Rumors of Will Smith playing an Egyptian Pharaoh in his next movie are now confirmed true. Smith will star in The Last Pharaoh as Taharqa who became infamous for defending ancient Egypt against invasions by the Assyrian king Esarhaddon. The film will focus on the charachter of Taharqa as he prepares to battle against all odds.
Industry insiders say the budget and scope of the film will be similar to other epic war movies such as Kingdom of Heaven and Troy. Infact the screenwriter of Braveheart is currently working on revisions of the script. Film will be produced by Smith’s own production company Overbrook and would mark the first “historical epic” film to his resume. Via: Variety
From the Last Man on Earth to the last superhero to the Last Pharaoh. Is there some semiotic significance here that we're missing?

Last Pope? Last President?
We are definitely looking at a pattern here.
Remember that Pope Benedict is rumored to be the penultimate Pope, to be succeeded by Pope Peter the Roman, according to some interpretations of the St. Malachi prophecy and the infamous Third Prophecy of Fatima.
"In the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church there will reign Peter the Roman, who will feed his flock amid many tribulations, after which the seven-hilled city will be destroyed and the dreadful Judge will judge the people. The End." - St. Malachi
President Obama's first term ends on January 20 2013, effectively though on November 4 2012 (if not reelected)- Election Day. A month before or after the Mayan Doomsday of December 21, 2012.
Interesting, huh?
The Last Action Hero, The Last Dragon, The Last Unicorn, The Last King of Scotland, The Last Temptation of Christ, The Last Mimzy, the list of "last"s goes on and on... Another pattern besides Will Smith being the last this-or-that is the prevalence of "the last" before a certain subject in movie titles.
Andre - I wouldn't go so far as to call 2012 a "doomsday", the Mayans saw it as simply the "end of time".
Smith playing Obama as the last pharoah/president defending the homeland, against the Assyrians (read the Arabs, i.e Iran and AlQuaeda).
Hmmm doesn't Hollywood do it's prescriptive programming, sorry I mean storytelling well.
i just see smith as the last man or the new man in so many different scopes of visions or mediums he portrays in film.
Deadly outbreak seems to unfold in Mexico City (~ 19.5 N), just a week after Obama´s vist... and at the same time a Contemporary Art Fair opens in the city. Please see the logo of the show here:

Syncro message from the Gods, black humour from Valis?
I'll be sure to miss this film and anything Smith does.
He started as the fresh Prince...
