Babies, Bathwater and the New Age

The New Age movement is one of the great enigmas of our time. You won't
find hardly anyone willing to defend it or define themselves as a "New
Ager," and...

That certainly looked real, for a moment.
it clearly wasn't...but who faked such an elaborate news conference, and do you think they're serious, or is this some kind of Joke? Love to know what you think, Chris.

That isn't really Steven Bassett?
Thrace, this conference was held at the end of the April 2009 x-conference near Baltimore, MD.
I watched it live.
Andre Heath at thealienproject.blogspot.com (working from memory, correct me if I'm wrong) covered both the conference and this presser.
Since then Bassett has been interviewed by several folks on podcasts and radio shows, saying essentially the same thing.
You didn't ask my opinion, and I'm not sure what you mean by 'joke', but I'm sure it's not fake, and I'm sure Steve Bassett meant what he said.
I'm not sure whether he has the means or will to carry out his promise.
is it fake? i woke up and saw it forwarded to my email. i should have done some research before linking it this morning. - sergio
Friends-
Guys, don't get me wrong. My comments weren't made to throw stones. Only this : I do tv work as a profession, so, when looking at stuff taken off of various networks, I tend to notice little things like a news organization's graphics, style of presentation, etc. The ' CNN ' graphics which feature the title of the conference and the speaker's name don't look right to me. They nearly match CNN's current style ( which they've used all year ) but not quite. I don't doubt the sincerity of the speaker, but the way the presentation is handled, without an anchor, and with the wrong grapchics package, all gives me pause. That's where I'm coming from. And further light is appreciated-

It might be a raw feed that didn't air. This was from the Bethesda conference a couple months back, I think.
Thrace-
Here's a link to a CNN article from April 20th of this year, days after the conference ended, which mentions both Stephen Bassett and the X-Conference in light of Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell's headlines-grabbing statements therein:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/04/20/ufo.conference/index.html?iref=newssearch
CNN.com was also streaming video of the conference around this time, though I'm not sure if that video is still available through their website. It is, however, widely available through other outlets:
http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/22030/CNN__Edgar_Mitchell_at_X_Conference_2009/
I doubt this particular clip was shown on the network itself, but the conference was most certainly covered by CNN and thus the authenticity of the video is not in question. The conference took place in Gaithersburg, MD from April 17-19. I think I even recall Christopher mentioning that he had wanted to attend...?
Anyway, kudos to your credibility filter for being on the alert, but you needn't worry that the video was hoaxed ;]
I don't think Bassett truly believes that disclosure will come by the end of the month, but there is no doubt his initiative is the real deal. And since UFO/ET disclosure requires publicity first and foremost, I can understand the temptation on Bassett's part to pepper the conference with particularly provocative "leads," if we might refer to the May 31st line by such a name.
I dont know.
Reminds me to much of the Iron Mountain report. Almost every decision made in this report was fabricated. Next on the List would be the "revelation" of aliens (malevolent or benevolent doesnt matter) to push trough some fascist agenda like uniting the world under one "government".
Disclosure my ass. These guys work (consciously or unconsciously) for "THEM".
The world as we know it would stop in an instant, ready to be mold in something "THEY" always wanted. Be it by the help of (imaginary or real) aliens, or terrorist threats.
Because it´ll never be about us the people, but about what their meek and broken egos wants.

Chris, thanks for posting this guy Stephen Bassett's name. I've been suspicious of the UFO stuff for a long time, but since looking into some of Bassett's work late last night, particularly the following two videos, I think I finally get that the "aliens do exist" idea is not just a vague possibility, but a very sound and rational perspective
Stephen being grim to justifiably angry...

Stephen good-natured and funny...

Note: the google video entitled "Exo 585 - Stephen Bassett - The Exopolitical Revolution Disclosure" starts with about 20 seconds of blackness and remains fairly bland until Stephen starts speaking at 5:22.
honestly, I don't think they will "disclose" anything truthful, if anything at all. They will more than likely just put forth some story they WANT us to believe. As unrealistic as this sounds, i'd prefer disclosure along the lines of extraterrestrials finally revealing themselves to us all and not just the government. I've heard a lot of people say "Well look how we treat minorities, it's no wonder they want nothing to do with us, imagine how we would treat them."
Hiya Chris, do you have a public email we can send stuff to? Questions not relative to the post.
I wanted you to check out this cool Obama logo...
