Kubrick/Apollo

Jay Weidner explores the "third position" on the Apollo hoax controversy, presenting a detailed argument that Stanley Kubrick helped create film and photos of the moon missions for public consumption in order that the real technology being put on the lunar surface could be kept out of the public eye.

Lots of interesting questions to ponder and some very interesting diagrams and photo analysis. I found his alchemical interpretations of 2001 to be not quite as compelling (Weidner seems to be uncomfortable with the fact that the actual story is about direct alien intervention in human evolution), but worth a read nonetheless.

Wow, awesome stuff. The "third position" seems the most likely...

I'm sorry but I don't see Kubrick playing ball with the government to engage in criminal activity. Kubrick was-- above all else-- an artist. Not in a million years would he have condoned-- let alone participated in-- government lying and deception. He was essentially a bohemian-- a very successful bohemian, but a bohemian at heart.

you know, Weidner isnt too far away from the "intervention" theory, but in his view its "the cosmos" itself, not some alien races that intervened.
In my opinion he was the one who came closest to explain 2001, and I tend to agree with his point of view.
Besides it was one of the most interesting reads i had in the past time.

But as the above poster stated, i dont think kubrick had participated in a hoax of this scale, unless he was given something good in exchange.

Whether or not Kubrick was involved is not for me to answer, but certainly Clarke was very closely tied into the MIC and all that. And NASA people were also involved, don't forget. As to 2001, it certainly lends itself to a lot of interpretations, which is why it's so powerful. I do have my Dawn of Man=Roswell/reverse engineering allegory theories, but those are just theories! =)

Whenever I study stuff like 2001 it strikes me that "evolution" or "the great work" or "alien-human contact" are paralell paths in a way. Each interpretation is valuable, and will resonate depending on one's personal determination. I tend to interpret 2001 as representing the evolution of the collective human consciousness but the alien intervention interpretation is solid too. I've also called it Kubrick and clarke's grand prank-a celestial insemination. Sexy!

If you haven't seen the French documentary 'The Dark Side of the Moon', you need to get a hold of a copy.

You can watch a version of it on Google Video, but it has about 10 minutes of content edited out, and I am not sure what bits:

The interviews with Rumsfeld and Kissinger insinuate there was an intentional coverup and with good reason, but none of the interviewees go in to any detail.

The out-takes during the credits show that this film was a scripted documentary, but it still reveals quite a bit.
