Robobama

Disney has a new robot in the Hall of Presidents, based on Dear Leader. I think Goldman Sachs and Citigroup beat them to it, but nice try anyway, Disney...

This president is an audio-animatronic Obama surrounded by the 42 other U.S. presidents at Walt Disney World's newly revamped Hall of Presidents in Orlando, Florida.

Disney gathered a team of what it calls "Imagineers," each trained in various disciplines such as artistry, design and engineering, to update the attraction that has been around since 1971.

It's hard to believe the figures are not real people and, according to Disney officials, that's the goal.

"...Dear Leader..." (smile)

I love that.

I bet the animatronic W functions better than the real one... Then again, it says Obama is only the 43rd president added to the lineup. I wonder who they left out. Off to wikipedia...

On the 17 memestream:

An estimated crowd of 17,000, including the fashion designer Valentino, turned out for Madonna's concert, the first of two this weekend in London on her "Sticky & Sweet" tour.
In an interview with The Sun newspaper, Madonna had said she was "terribly sad" about Jackson's death. "To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in awe of him," The Sun quoted her as saying.

Los Angeles Police are expecting a vast crowd with a possible 700,000 fans showing up at the venue but it will be off limits to anyone without a ticket. Fans from anywhere in the world can apply for tickets. The concert is due to be held with a simulcast with the Nokia theatre which means 17,500 fans will get to see the concert at no charge.

In addition to Robobama, 1000 new citizens were sworn in at Disney World. Maybe it's just me, but swearing new citizens in at a fantasy, kiddie theme park seems really strange. Wasn't the ceremony once done at the Statue of Liberty? That would seem more appropriate.

"On Friday, more than 1,000 persons took the oath of citizenship at the park. The former immigrants, aged from 18 to 80, came from more than 100 countries."

BTW, the headline read, "Fake Obama, New Citizens Open July 4th Celebration At Disney World." Ha!
