It will be the longest total solar eclipse of the 21st century, lasting at greatest eclipse 6 minutes, 39 seconds, it has sparked tourist interest in eastern China and India.

The eclipse is part of series 136 in the Saros cycle, like the record setting Solar eclipse of July 11, 1991.- Wiki

I've been watching the Tudors recently, transported back to the 16th century. This headline seems as though it belongs there - terror attacks, disasters!

OH MY!

6.39 is a significant number numerically speaking. That it's also occuring 4 weeks after the permanent eclipse of Mr Moonwalker Jackson and 2 days after the moon landing anniversary is also cool. The number one film across the globe at the moment is the Half Blood Prince, a title I find strangely moon resonant, not to mention it featuring 2 characters who are full moon affected werewolves. That film carries the new trailer for one of most anticipated films of the year; Twilight: The New Moon. Also the film "Moon" has just been released. Hmm... I think I sense a pattern here(!)

Love the news story next to it about strange glowing clouds seen in the night skies too, it's prompted me to listen to Pink Fluffy Clouds by the Orb.

Hi Chris,

Speaking of "tourist interest" in the Asian total solar eclipse, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in India (interviewed there by Greta van Susteran last night on FOX network).

Clinton told Greta that she would be leaving today from India to Bangkok and then on to a conference in Phuket that will include the North Koreans. Greta asked her if she would interact with the North Korean delegation and Clinton answered that she would have no need to!

All this, of course, during the total solar eclipse across the region of Bangkok and southern China!

I suppose this is one ritual occurrence that Obama could send the Secretary of State to as a "stand-in"?

Just think how strange it is that the time we live in with the distance of the Sun and the Moon, the moon perfectly covers the sun. Pretty much any other time in history it woulda been way smaller then the sun.
