1211 EST Yahoo has the
Independent Spirit Awards up, with a nice 17-picture gallery of the winners. You might want to check out the
Phoebe In Wonderland trailer, which looks to be a dissociative bonanza. It stars Elle Fanning, who was so incredible in
The Nines. (UPDATE: Don't forget that Phoebe was the Titan associated as a moon goddess).
1228 EST: Barbara Walters interviews Hugh Jackman and the Oannes Brothers on her Ausur night special.
1241 EST : Holy crap, Freida Pinto is the most beautiful woman on Earth.
1246 EST: Mike Myers pulls off a hat trick at the Razzies.
1346 EST: Terror attack in Cairo. 1 killed, 12 injured. (update 1410 EST: now it's 17 injured).
1534 EST: This attack identical to April 7, 2005 incident, also near the Al-Azhar mosque. April 7 is an interesting day in history: it was the "birthday" of the Internet, date of the first space shuttle spacewalk and the launching of the Mars Odyssey. Cairo is often roughly translated as "Mars."
1550 EST: Thuthie is being very cryptic about the Oscar Poster and its secret meaning. Me, I'm kind of seeing a flying saucer and a heavenly beam, and Oscar as Gort. Not sure what he has in mind, though.
1620 EST: Could this be a subliminal signal pointing to a massive disclosure event? Andre has an interesting reverse timeline over at The Alien Project.
1640 EST: This is fascinating- the movie The Wrestler opened on 12/17/09 and featured Mickey Rourke playing "The Ram" along with Marisa Tomei ("Twin of Beloved Isis") who plays Pam. The Ram is the symbol of Amun and of the Age of Aries. Amun survived Akhenaten only to be overshadowed by Isis and Osiris, and later was syncretized with Ra as Amen Ra.
Interesting to see this film garner such acclaim in the Obama Age, who himself seems to be dragging Amun synchs in his wake. Also, if you appreciate the subliminity of the female form you definitely want to check out this film. Plus, Aronofsky is always awesome.
1723 EST: The poster for The Wrestler screams "witness the resurrection of Mickey Rourke!" Rourke's birth name is Philip Andre Rourke, but if you go by "Mickey Andre Rourke," his initials are RAM in reverse. Witness the resurrection of the RAM? Bonus factoid: As an amateur boxer, Rourke scored 17 TKOs.
1735 EST: Strangey reports that one of my favorite bands from my youth, Earth, Wind, & Fire are playing for Obama today at the White House along with the great Stevie Wonder. Go check out some of their iconography, it's truly fascinating. Here's their latest album cover:

1821 EST: Rainn Stewart ( a
Bah'ai follower, btw)
dressed as the Ram for the ISAs, but looked more like Britney Spears than Rourke.

18:43: Heh.
18:58: Yahoo has red carpet pics
here if anyone cares.
19:46: Lot of ladies in red tonight. Check out
Bridget Fonda's dress and tell me what those designs are.
19:49 EST: What's up with those
weird Oscars behind Heidi (also in red)?
19:51: Whoah- who's this
Amanda Seyfried? I gotta see
Alpha Dog. And why is Vanessa Hudgens there? Not that I'm complaining, but huh?
19:54: I really wish they were streaming this. I'll get my exercise tonight.
19:57: Those Slumdog kids are adorable. Why is Miley Cyrus there?
20:02: Did you guys see the Babylon Gate above Kate Winslet's head?
20:06: Nice lingering shot of Miley beneath the Babylon Elephant.
20:08: Strangey blew up the Bridget Fonda dress, which looks like interlocking eight-rayed black suns. Heavy.
20:14: Valentino giving the Gnostic meme, Mickey Rourke showing off Loki and Viola Davis rocking the Solaris vibe. That's where Hancock and Mary duked it out, btw.
20:17: Oh, hey- the
Knowing trailer at 5:17 PST.
20:19: The accountant sketch from Meaning of Life, and boy, they're really rocking the Babylon Gate tonight. You see it behind Penelope Cruz? Wow.
20:28: A crystal curtain and a "radiating" design, eh?
20:31: Same point-in-circle stand Obama used.
20:36: This musical bit is deadly. This guy is straight? Exclusively?
20:44: Who is producing this travesty?
20:48: Penelope Cruz stood under the Gate and won. Do we assume the same for Kate Winslet?
20:50: A "ceremony for the world?" For it's "survival?" Whoa.
20:52: No,
"A moment of unity for the entire world," and "universal language." Sheesh, Penny.
20:54:
"Every seed was placed here by the alien king Rondelay." - Steve Martin.
20:58: Interesting logo for 81- giant 8, Oscar as one.
21:07: WallE wins, but why does animation get short-shrift on the Oscars?
21:17:
007 in the house.
21:21: How the hell hard can it be to design costumes for Milk or Revolutionary Road?
21:24:
Curious
Case of
Benjamin
Button beats Dark and Hell for makeup. Zzzzzz.
21:29: Aww, the robots end the Romance montage. I hate awards ceremonies.
21:35: Loving the juxtaposition of Dog and Phoenix. Finally something interesting.
21:38: ...and straight into the Boston Terrier in the Master Card ad (whose logo is a dual sun).
21:47: This Oscars has
a major 007 vibe going on between Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig.
21:51: Hyundai Genesis, eh?
21:53: Beyonce leads the army of masculinized women.
21:55: I'm feeling my heterosexuality ebb away watching this. Hugh Jackman can't sing. Beyonce is the Scarlet Woman.
21:58: That was excruciating. Look at the crowd's faces. "The musical is back?" In your dreams, Hugh.
22:05: Cringe. Just cringe.
22:08: KK doing the spiel for the Jokker. Downey should have won. Hands down.
20:20: Did they tell all the women to wear red tonight?
20:27: Note that cross that Will Smith is wearing...
20:34: Slumdog soundman doing the OM. Hardcore.
20:37: It's a Dog's night...
20:39: Heidi Klum rocking the Scarlet Woman meme.
20:45: Eddie Murphy looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago. Jerry Lewis does not.
20:53: The orchestra looks as if it is playing underwater.
20:56: Slumdog again- I'm reminded of the recent Astronaut Theology about India and aliens.
23:00: "We're" coming down. All very one-worldy...
23:02: Osiah? Osirah? My Indian is a little rusty. This is Slumdog's night.
23:12: Is this the Oscars or the Tonys?
23:19: The"Green" 17 inch Mac notebook?
23:22: Don't forget Danny Boyle resurrected the Sun in Sunshine.
23:24 A fact we were reminded of as he left the stage...
23:31: This new nominating format is giving me severe douche chills.
23:32: Ka-Hathor-te Winslet stood beneath the Gate and won...
23:35: Man, Ka-Hathor-te was really hands-on with that Oscar.
23:47: Crap, I forgot Sean Penn was nominated. Oh well, Pitt would have won otherwise.
23:53: Did you like Mr. Spielberg's halo? SlumDog is the star of the night.
23:56: Danny Boyle rebirthed the Sun and after SlumDog(star) wins, we flash to the Renaissance Hotel logo.
