Star Trek:Voyager was so insanely, teeth-grindingly terrible it nearly killed the entire Star Trek franchise (and space opera, arguably, as well) forever. Even Jeri Ryan in a lycra suit couldn't redeem this atrocity, which took every annoying tic and quirk and cringe-inducing faux pas of every Star Trek episode ever and built a series around it. It was woefully bogged down by irritating non-characters (all of whom inspire nothing less than an overwhelming compulsion to punch each one of them in the throat) and plots smothered in politically-correct tedium. It also had the most hateful comic relief character ever to appear in a sci-fi franchise (the insufferable "Neelix") until Jar Jar Binks rolled into town. And that includes Herbie the Robot.
The good news is that Voyager did inspire a subculture of YouTube snark peddlers, who subject the soul-killing inanity (especially soul-killing to old school Trek fans like myself) to a variation on the old Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. This is a great example, and rips to shreds the most notorious episode ("Threshold") in the series' inexplicable seven-season run.
If you're not a Trek fan, this is still very entertaining. If you are a Trek fan- which in turn means that you hate Voyager- you'll find this evisceration extremely satisfying.

I know I must be weird, but I am a Trek fan and I love Voyager.
Noooooooo!
I think alot of the reaction to Enterprise was leftover animosity for Voyager. The Next Generation was more or less awful for a season or two and didn't get cookin' until the Best of Both Worlds. Deep Space Nine doesn't seem to even belong to the Star Trek universe.
I have great fondness for the first season of TNG, less so for two (read: Dr. Pulaski) but thought it had its moments.
But I'd rather watch the worst ep of TNG than the best of Voyager.
Posted 7:7 on March 7...Seriously?
I would rather watch either rather than DS9. Never could get into DS9. The whole point of Star Trek is that it is a TREK, not a space station. Nope, Babylon 5 kicks ass on DS9.
I think DS9 put a stake in the heart of Trek with their soap operas. Voyager allowed just enough life and momentum to overcome the failure of Enterprise. Quite an achievement!
But...what about the Defiant? =(
I really don't think enough people watched DS9 for it to make a difference one way or another.
Voyager fans- forgive me. Sometimes you just have to let it all out after all those years...
I'm sure there's a lot else we can enjoy together! Wheee!
Voyager so lacked the macho, sexist, and staple objectification of women (Jeri Ryan excepted) by captain Jane Hathway.
Your reference to Neelix as "the most hateful (word choice?) comic relief character ever to appear in a sci-fi franchise until Jar Jar Binks ... " really escapes me since it was clearly a continuation on the theme indoctrinating child like minds to its mechanical social engineering via sex and violence. Oh My!
